New theme - Coffee bar

A Serendipity user emailed and asked if I could make a fixed width version of my 'Coffee Cup' competition entry theme. So here it is 'Coffee Bar' - my competiton entry but fixed width with a single sidebar and a navigation bar.

I named it 'Coffee Bar' as it has 3 CSS variations. 'Coffee Cup' - in all the original colours as you see above, and two new colourways 'Cappuccino' and 'Espresso' shown below.

'Coffee Bar' is fully configurable in the Serendipity v1.1 style configurator and is fully backwards compatible defaulting to the blue 'Coffee Cup' stylesheet in version 0.9 and 1.0. Thanks to Már Örlygsson for the menu code.

You can download 'Coffee Bar' from my download area.

If you're using Serendipity version 0.9 or 1.0 you can use the 'Cappuccino' and 'Espresso' CSS files and configure your menus by editing your index.tpl file. Click on the 'Continue reading' link for instructions.


To change the style sheet


open your index.tpl and look for this code

you can change 'blue.css' to either 'cappuccino.css' or 'espresso.css'.



To configure the menus look for this code

    then enter the link url inplace of the # and the link name in place of Link 1, Link 2 etc.


    Save your index.tpl file and upload it to your /templates/coffee_bar/ folder.



    That's it.

    Hi,
    very nice work with this template, really georgeous. Is there any easy way to add a right navigation side to the template (a new column on the right side, i. e. for categories)? I tried it via the serendipity java script plugin administraion, but I saw no result. Guess coz the width is fixed. I am very new to serendipity and also unexperienced with css and php. Any way to help me?

    there's a separate template I made that you can download from this site called 'Coffee Bar 3' which includes the code for an extra sidebar column

    Dave, love your templates! I downloaded and installed the Coffee Bar 3 template and it's working great except I can't figure out one thing. It's supposed to be three columns and I can see the code for the left and right sidebars but I'm only getting a right sidebar. Is there something I need to do to turn the left sidebar "on"? Thanks!

    Hi Brian

    can you go to your admin /configure plugins and check that you have some plugins enabled in both sidebars. If that doesn't do the trick just let me know and I'll take a look
