SPLAT! - new grunge template now available for download

SPLAT! my new grunge theme and template is now complete and available to download.

SPLAT! uses standard the system fonts 'Impact' for XP users and 'Helvetica Neue condensed' for Mac OS X users and features Dynamic Text Replacement in the header - thanks to Stewart Rosenberger for his article on A List Apart. The DTR font is 21005 EURO from junkohanhero.com. The ink splats came from Tom Tirins' excellent collection. Thanks also to Suzanne at work for the input during development of the theme and for scanning all the other grungy bits and pieces!

SPLAT! is a Serendipity 1.1 theme with the navigation configurable in the style manager and is fully backwards compatible through v0.9. Static pages and special pages are also fully styled.

Nice one Dave! However, I noticed one issue: in IE7 the title bar is not displayed correctly.

I've not managed to test this in IE 7 as I'm still running IE6 on my PC. I'll take a look later and make any necessary changes.

Very nice, you've outdone yourself with this one. I'd like to see more graphic templates from you Dave, you've got an edge that our templates need, probably because you bring your real world experience into the templates and this gives them readability and usability

I agree with Carl. This is a good theme amigo. I believe it fits my site really well. I don't seem to be able to display a masthead. Did it come with one?

Can you drop me a note when you get a spare nano second?

I get errors that the header is not working? Also it is not wide enough to cope with YouTube playlists:

Try it at my blog and you see what I mean: use the Theme selector on the right side!

When I went to have a look on your site I saw 'error: the server could not create this heading image'. Unfortunately, I can't duplicate this as all the servers I have access to create the images OK. However, if this error persists you could try the suggestion at http://www.excitris.com/2005/12/13/168/. You'll need to add the code to templates/splat/dtr/heading.php not image.php as it states on their website. You can also change the font size of the generated text images in heading.php - it's currently set to 40px. If you want to resize the main heading you can change this in the template's style.css in the following section

Well I really have problems getting this style to work.
I installed it and it hase some really weird behaviour. If you want to have a look at that, just follow the link, maybe you got a solution for that.

fixed the style problem, i concerted the css style to a table style instead of div.

It is really a fantastic theme but unfortunatly i've some troubles to get it run. Perhaps you could take a look at my site... would be very kind of you...Thanks

Problems:
# On the main page the layout is totally out of grid but in one of the sections everything is ok
# The "read the full article" link appears out of grid

I've also replied on the s9y forum.

I'll try to sort this out for you but it might take day or two as I'm really busy at work just at the moment. I've not been able to reproduce this but another user has and has solved the problem and I'll try and get a copy of his files to see what he's done

It's a fantastic theme and I have no troubles with it at all. I am a fan of your templates!
But... could you make this SPLAT template a three column - I mean, instead of the labels to the left with home, about, projects... if you could make room for another column, so it becomes a three column thing?

I have just started to use the coppermine plugin, and unfortunately it messes up SPLAT, but not the other templates, for example Square...

Hi!

This template is very cool. But there is a vertical scrollbar at a resolution on 1024x768 (Firefox 2.0, IE7)

glad you like the template

If you open the style.css file and change the following widths.

#mainpane
width: 1016px;

#serendipityLeftSideBar
width: 172px;

That does it in FF 2 on my mac but I've not tested it in IE 7.

Hi Dave!

Great template. I'm having issues with aligning the Archives, Calendar, etc. It shows up at the bottom and throws off some of my other blog entries. Any idea on how to fix this?
